Maybe I have just come to expect great things from him every night, or maybe I’m just too focused on watching other aspects of my team’s performance. On Thursday night Jarred Crawford put in one of the greatest performance of any player I’ve ever coached at KVHS and I didn’t notice until I looked at the stat sheet after the game was over. If its possible to have a quite 33 & 25 game…this was it.

In our most important game of the season so far, and on a night when some of his teammates were having an off game, Jarred stepped up with his career high in rebounds (25) and points (33). The win pushed us a game ahead of Saint Malachy’s to stand alone in first place with only three games remaining.

Another positive aspect of the game was how two freshman, Zac Chambers and Ryan Foster, also stepped up to carry the team. In past games against other top teams we relied heavily on JD Kent to do the bulk of the scoring and Steve Flanagan to beat full court pressure. On this night, however, Zac and Ryan once again showed they can compete against the best and are ready to step up with the game on the line.

We head into the exam break right where we want to be and still control our own destinty. If we pull out one more victory over St. Macs on Saturday January 24 we will lock up first place and probably play Woodstock or Carleton North in the opening game of the South/West tournament who are two teams we beaten already this season.
