This past weekend the NBIAA Jr. Girls championship banners were handed out and the girls from the Kennebecasis Valley area put on a very impressive showing by winning all three titles. The AAA title went to the two-time defending champions KVHS Crusaders which was their fourth straight finals appearance. In AA action the powerhouse Rothesay High Red Hawks made it four in a row (I think) as they captured the title again this year. And finally, the RNS River Hawks captured the A title.

In addition to winning championships, the girls from the Valley have also represented the area well on BNB Provincials teams. Last season there were 12 girls from RHS, KVHS and HMMS that played on the U15 and U16 teams and that number might go up this summer considering the young talent on KVHS Crusaders varsity girl’s team.

The KVHS Sr. girl’s team which went undefeated in Southern conference this season and is currently the second seed from the South/West region has five grade 10 students and will only be losing two seniors (Ann Conrod and Lindsay Roy) this year.

Yes the future looks bright for the Valley. The boy’s teams definitely have a tough act to follow.
