After two month layoff KVHS pick up 112-76 victory over the visiting St. Malachy's Saints.

Despite nearly two months between games, the KVHS Crusaders men’s basketball team picked up right where they left off posting 112-76 victory the visiting St. Malachy’s Saints.

The Crusaders started slow, especially on the defensive end, allowing the Saints to jump out to a 13-5 lead to start the game. After a quick timeout and a substitution by KVHS they were able to flip the momentum to finish the 1st quarter on a 19-7 run, putting them up 24-20 after 20 minutes.

In the 2nd quarter the Crusaders used full court pressure to turn over a very young, short-handed St. Macs crew. The home team also started finding the range from behind the arc with Adam Butler and Liam McKee both hitting from deep. The Crusaders won the quarter 32-12 pushing their lead to 56-32 at half time.

The Saints could have easily come out of the locker room dejected, but Eli Roderick had different plans. Roderick hit 5 three-points in the 2nd half, including a couple “and-1” four points plays as the Saints scored 22 points in both the 3rd and 4th quarters. The Crusaders however, had they own hot hand as Adam Butler answered with 24 2nd half points of his own to keep the Crusaders in front. KVHS won the 3rd quarter 30-22 and the 4th quarter 25-22 to seal the victory.

The Saints were led by

  • Eli Roderick with 24 points (six 3-pointers)
  • Marcus Lyons with 18 points (four 3-pointers)

KVHS was led by

  • Adam Butler with 42 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals
  • Liam McKee with 18 points
