The exam break was not kind to the Crusaders as they returned to action on Saturday, losing 74-49 to the visiting Woodstock Thunder in an exhibition game at KVHS.

The home team started flat, struggling to make shots plus the Thunder forced them into several live-ball turnovers to jump out to 25-11 lead at the end of the 1st quarter.

In the 2nd and 3rd quarters, the Crusaders were able to find some defensive energy winning the 2nd quarter by one and cutting the Thunder’s lead to nine points with about 4 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter. But despite the comeback, the Crusader just couldn’t find the shooting touch against a very aggressive Thunder defensive.

The Thunder closed out the final four minutes of the 3rd quarter with a 10-4 run to restore order and their double-digit lead that the Crusaders never threatened again.

The leaders for the Crusaders were:

  • Dallen MacDougall 10 points, 8 rebounds & 4 assists
  • Gavin Trites 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists & 3 steals
  • Ryan Pollard 8 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists & 2 steals

The leaders for the Thunder were:

  • Daniel Hawkins 25 points
  • Alex Vadureanu 16 points
  • Thomas Clark 15 points
