The KVHS Riverboat Tournament began in 1987 under the guidance of KVHS head basketball coach and athletic director, Peter Corby. In 1998, the tournament added a women’s division, expanding to 12 teams.
Peter had a vision of creating a tournament that would attract the strongest high school basketball teams from Eastern Canada and showcase the region’s best young talent. The Riverboat Classic is now the longest running high school basketball tournament in the province of New Brunswick and one of the most well-attended basketball events in the greater Saint John area.
